      birdie putt on the final
      Discussion
GLENVIEW, Ill. Wholesale Shoes USA . -- After struggling with his putting much of the round, Tom Lehman made a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday to win the Champions Tours Encompass Championship. The 55-year-old Lehman closed with a 2-under 70 at North Shore and had a 15-under 201 total for his eighth senior title and first since 2012. He rebounded from bogeys on Nos. 13 and 14 -- his only dropped strokes of the week -- with birdies on Nos. 15 and 16, parred the par-3 17th and won on the par-4 18th. "It wasnt my very best performance today, but it was good enough," Lehman said. Michael Allen and Kirk Triplett tied for second, a stroke back. Allen shot 67, and Triplett had a 68. Lehman, the 1996 British Open winner, opened with rounds of 65 and 66 to take a three-stroke lead into the final round. He ended a 27-event victory drought and won $270,000. "The check is sweet, but the trophy is sweeter," Lehman said. His last win was the Schwab Cup Championship at the end of the 2012 season. Lehman, who was bogey-free and made 13 birdies in the first two rounds, parred the first 11 holes before birdieing No. 12. "I had a rough start and wasnt putting like I did the first two days," Lehman said. "It put me in a bit of a bind. After 14, I told my caddie, Lets have the best four holes of the week." Lehman sank an 18-footer on the 15th and a 6-footer on the 16th to get back to 14 under. Triplett birdied the first, sixth, 13th and 16th holes in his bogey-free round. His approach on the final hole stopped in the back fringe. He missed a 20-foot birdie attempt. "I said early in the week that 15 under would win and 15 under wins," Triplett said. "I had some chances, missed a couple and made a couple. I had a pretty tough putt on 18 coming down that hill to keep it on line. So, next week." Allen birdied three of the last four holes, with his approach on 18 hitting the flagstick and stopping 4 inches from the cup. Doug Garwood was fourth at 13 under after a 66. He played the first 10 holes in 4 under and briefly grabbed a share of the lead at 13 under with an eagle on the 16th hole, but three-putted for bogey on the 17th to fall back. Russ Cochran took advantage of a swing adjustment to shooting the best round of the tournament, an 8-under 64 that left him in a tie for sixth at 10 under. "I got up on my toes more," Cochran said. "Seems like a little thing, but it seemed like it did the trick." Colin Montgomerie was 10 under after a 70. Hale Irwin matched his age with a 69 to tie for 39th at 3 under. Air Max 270 Sale . Not sure yet. #livetweetingthegreatuntangle — Strombone (@strombone1) April 17, 2014 Stage three, coping: I feel like I could use a cigarette or something. Air Max 90 Sale .James scored 29 points, including 16 in the first quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers broke a four-game losing streak with a 106-74 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night.VANCOUVER -- The man who coached the Canadian womens soccer team to a historic bronze medal at the London Olympics has made a long-term commitment to remain with the program. John Herdman said extending his contract with the Canadian Soccer Association through the 2020 Summer Games gives him the chance to build on what has already been accomplished. "Its a wonderful opportunity to be able to lead a legacy," the told a news conference Thursday. "We have been planning for a 10-year plan since I came into the organization. "To know you can actually see that through and youve got the backing and support of people, its a great place be a leader." Peter Montopoli, the CSAs general secretary, said the agreement brings continuity to the womens team. Herdmans previous contract ran through the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Canada will host the 2015 FIFA Womens World Cup with the championship game being played at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. Herdman will now also guide the program through the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Olympic Games. "John is the inspiration and the leader of the program," said Montopoli. "There is nobody better in the world that we believe can lead the program." Herdman, an Englishman, took over the Canadian womens program in 2011. The bronze at the London Olympics was the first Canadian medal in a traditional team sport at a Summer Games since 1936. There had been speculation Herdman could leave the CSA after Hope Powell, the long-time coach of Englands womens team, was fired this summer. Family and friends were calling Herdman, asking him if he was coming home. "Youre grandma is ringing, your moms ringing, your brother," he said. "Everyone is saying you are coming home." Herdman said the situation in England "brought some real clarity" to what he wanted to do in Canada. The 38-year-old father of two said his wife and family enjoy living in Vancouver, adding "Canada is where we wanted to be." Montopoli said the CSA had been speaking with Herdman about an extension for a number of months. "No matter what was happening in England or not, it was something that was going to happen," he said. "It just took some time." National team veteran Sophie Schmidt said its a relief knowing Herdman isnt leaving. "Its comforting," said the midfielder. "As soon as I heard news about the whole English thing I had this unsettled feeling in my stomach. "He means so much for the team. Its such a relief to know that hes here for a significant amount of time. Wholesale Shoes Cheap . " Part of Herdmans long-term vision is to improve development programs in Canada to produce more players like national team captain Christine Sinclair. "Now the things that we planned we can progressively put in place so we have a world-class womens national team (and) a world-class development system that underpins it," he said. "Weve always said the womens national team is the priority. But realistically, unless the conveyor belt is right, then we wont see more Sinclairs very often. We have to have more Sinclairs, more often, to keep this team on the podium consistently." In time, Herdman may step away from coaching. "Hopefully Im not coaching in the 2019 World Cup or Olympics," he said. "One of my goals would be to have women leading women moving forward. I would love to see one of these national team players, with all their experience, stepping forward into that role. "When they are ready, somebody will do that, but you have to be ready. You have to have someone with those world-class capabilities." Schmidt said defender Carmelina Moscato or midfielder Diana Matheson have the potential to be future national team coaches. Montopoli said Herdmans long-term role hasnt been defined. "He will certainly be involved in womens football across the country. It will develop. It will be evolving," Montopoli said. "Certainly John will be overseeing almost everything that is going on, on the womens side." The CSA also announced the womens team will play Mexico in an international friendly Nov. 24 at BC Place. Canada beat Mexico at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Vancouver to advance to the London Games. Herdman said he will use that game to introduce some new players to the lineup. "It wont be the same people playing as weve seen back two years ago," he said. Herdman was head coach of the New Zealand womens national team from 2006 to 2011. He joined the Canadian program after former coach Carolina Morace quit following Canadas last-place finish at the 2011 Womens World Cup in German. Under Herdman, the Canadian women won the gold medal at the Pan-Am Games in Mexico later that year before reaching the podium in London. Herdman understands the team now faces high expectations. "As soon as you get on a podium expectations are up," he said. "The goal for us is Canada should be able to podium consistently." ' ' '

      community work with
      Discussion
DENVER -- Chicago Cubs All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo is the winner of the 2014 Branch Rickey award in recognition of his community work with pediatric cancer patients. Jacob Waguespack Blue Jays Jersey . At 25, hes the youngest person to receive the award -- 4 1-2 months younger than last years winner, Los Angeles Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw. Created by the Rotary Club of Denver in 1991, the Branch Rickey Award honours individuals in baseball who contribute to their communities and are strong role models for young people. Each year, major league teams nominate a player, coach or executive, either active or retired, for the award. The award is named in honour of the late baseball executive known for creating the framework for the modern minor league farm system and for breaking baseballs colour barrier by signing Jackie Robinson, the first black player in the major leagues. He also hired the first Latino player, Roberto Clemente. "Its awesome. It really is," Rizzo said. "What he did, obviously with Jackie Robinson, its pretty special to win the award. To be recognized for something like that, its special for me and my family." In 2007, at the age of 17, Rizzo was drafted by the Boston Red Sox after graduating from high school in Parkland, Florida. During his first season in the minor leagues, he was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. After months of chemotherapy, his cancer went into remission. Since then, hes made regular visits to pediatric cancer patients at Lurie Childrens Hospital in Chicago and Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation was founded in 2012 to raise money for cancer research and provide support for children and families fighting the disease. The foundation has held two "Walk Offs for Cancer" and two "Cook Offs for Cancer," raising more than $500,000 altogether. The third annual "Walk Off for Cancer" will be held on Nov. 16 in Parkland, Florida. Rizzo joined the Cubs at midseason in 2012 and became the first Cubs player to collect three game-winning hits in his first five games. Jason Adam Jersey .3 seconds remaining, and No. 7 North Carolina held off a resilient No. 25 Virginia team, 54-51, on Saturday. John Henson contributed a double-double with 15 points to go with 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (25-4, 12-2 ACC), who have won five straight and 10 of 11. Carlos Delgado Blue Jays Jersey . They actually finished with a better record in ‘07 than they did in ‘06 but only marginally, going from 61 victories to 66.BALTIMORE - At this point in the season, when results count far more than style, the Baltimore Ravens will happily accept a flawed victory. That is precisely what they got Sunday. The Ravens trailed at halftime and never built a comfortable lead against lowly Jacksonville, yet did just enough to squeeze out a 20-12 win to stay in the thick of the AFC playoff race.Eight sacks of rookie Blake Bortles and a touchdown on a blocked punt were the highlights of an otherwise forgettable performance by Baltimore. The Ravens (9-5) scored just once with their offence on the field and gained only 31 yards rushing through three quarters. The usually reliable Justin Tucker missed two field goal tries, and all three units made enough mistakes to keep a football coach up late at night — even after a victory. We had too many to overcome to play the kind of football we wanted to play, coach John Harbaugh said. Too many long-yardage situations, too many penalties, too many special teams penalties ... too many things we had to clean up.But the defence was sound, and there were enough positives to enable Baltimore to escape with its fourth win in five games. Our guys have the ability to overcome adversity and have the ability to keep pounding and keep fighting and not let self-inflicted wounds overcome us, Harbaugh said.Terrell Suggs was credited with 2 1/2 sacks and rookie Timmy Jernigan, starting for the suspended Haloti Ngata, had two. Were doing what we just do best — knocking down quarterbacks, said linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who had a sack to match his single-season high of 17.Jacksonville (2-12) tried just about everything in its bid to pull off an upset, including an onside kick and a fake punt. Both worked, but it wasnt enough to earn the Jaguars their first win on the road.Joe Flacco went 20 for 30 for 221 yards and a touchdown for the Ravens, who blanked the Jaguars over the final 30 minutes.Bortles completed 21 of 37 passes for 210 yards, and an interception that came in the games final minute. He threw under pressure for most of the game — Baltimores season-high eight sacks increased the number Jacksonville has yielded this season to 62.Bortles played much of the game with a sprained right foot and was in a walking boot afterwardd. Vernon Wells Jersey . Theyre great up front. We knew that coming into the game, Bortles said of the Ravens. A lot of the sacks were on me holding the ball too long. Its something that Im working on and have to do better. The Jaguars points came on four field goals by Josh Scobee. No touchdowns, coach Gus Bradley lamented. Even if we get one, one touchdown, it gives us a great opportunity in this game. After leaving to jeers on their first series of the second half, the Ravens mounted an 80-yard drive to take a 17-12 lead with 8:34 left in the third quarter. Flacco went 5 of 5 for 65 yards, including a 27-yard completion to Owen Daniels and a 3-yard touchdown pass to the tight end.The Jaguars were then poised for a three-and-out, but punter Bryan Anger flipped a pass to Will Taufoou for 19 yards to extend the drive. Five plays later, however, Jacksonville punted. From that point, neither team had much success moving the ball until the Ravens put together a late 49-yard march that produced a field goal and an eight-point cushion with 1:11 remaining.Obviously it didnt go as smoothly as we would have liked, Daniels said, but thats the way it is.Baltimore trailed 12-10 at halftime after gaining only 13 yards on the ground and going 0 for 6 on third-down conversions.Three straight plays during the games opening series showed why Jacksonville came to town with only two wins. After tight end Marcedes Lewis dropped a second-down pass, Bortles missed connecting with a wide-open Cecil Shorts. On fourth down, Baltimores Darian Stewart burst through the line to block Angers punt. Kamar Aiken scooped up the ball and went 11 yards for a touchdown, Baltimores first score on a blocked punt since Ed Reed did it against Seattle in 2003.From there, the only scoring in the first half came on field goals.NOTES: Ravens S Terrence Brooks hurt his right knee on the games first play and is likely lost for the season, Harbaugh said. ... Jaguars LB Ryan Davis (hip) and Ravens DB Asa Jackson (knee) left early and did not return. ... Flacco went over 25,000 yards for his career. Hes at 25,024. ... Ravens WR Steve Smith became the 18th player in NFL history with 900 career catches.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

      have made this up.
      Discussion
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Vapormax Plus Femme Pas Cher . -- A horse with a humble pedigree. A couple of working stiff owners. A 77-year-old trainer with his first Kentucky Derby horse. Even Hollywood couldnt have made this up. California Chrome made it look easy on Saturday, pulling away down the stretch to win the Derby by 1 3/4 lengths. In a sport dominated by wealthy owners and regally bred horses from Kentuckys bluegrass country, this was a victory for the little guys. Owners Perry Martin and Steve Coburn bred an $8,000 mare to a $2,500 stallion to produce the winner of the worlds most famous race with their one-horse stable. "This is just a dream come true and a great birthday present," said Coburn, who turned 61 on Saturday. California Chrome ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:03.66 and paid $7, $5.60 and $4.20. The chestnut colt was sent off as the 5-2 favourite by the crowd of 164,906, the second-largest in the Derbys 140-year history. His trainer, Art Sherman, became the oldest trainer to win the Derby, 59 years after he travelled from California as an exercise rider for Derby winner Swaps. He watched that race from the barn area; this time he smelled red roses in the winners circle. Sherman was all smiles after the race. "He gave me the biggest thrill I ever had in my life," he said. California Chrome has the unlikeliest pedigree for a Derby champion. His mother, named Love the Chase, won just one race. She was purchased by Coburn and Martin, a move that prompted a trainer to call them "dumb asses" for getting involved in racing. Feeling inspired, they named their operation DAP Racing, which stands for Dumb Ass Partners. Their silks include an image of a donkey. Coburn lives near Reno, Nevada, rising at 4:30 a.m. for his job as a press operator at a 13-employee company that makes magnetic strips for credit cards and driver licenses. Martin lives on the California side of the border near Reno, running a laboratory that tests high-reliability equipment, like car air bags and medical equipment. Coburn and Martins partnership is based on a handshake, and their wives are friends who enjoy the sport, too. The group came up with California Chromes name by drawing it out of a hat. The horse hadnt even been out of his home state until this week. "Sometimes you dont get a lot of respect," Sherman said. "Were in Kentucky and you know most of the Derby winners are bred here and few outside of Kentucky." Sherman visited Swaps grave near the Derby museum earlier in the week and whispered a prayer: "I hope hes another Swaps." He sure was. California Chrome extended his winning streak to five races, won by a combined 26 lengths. It was the second Derby win for Espinoza, who rode War Emblem to victory in 2002. "I thought he rode him perfect," said Sherman, a former jockey. "I was riding the last 70 yards with Victor, so I think he was riding two. He had a lot of weight on him, I can tell you that." We Miss Artie, bred by Richard Lister of Toronto, placed 10th. Espinoza had California Chrome sitting comfortably in third in the 19-horse field as Uncle Sigh and Chitu set the early pace. California Chrome made his move on the final turn in tandem with Samraat. It looked like those two would decide the outcome, until California Chrome sped away to become the first California-bred to win the Derby since Decidedly in 1962. "This horse has so much talent," Espinoza said. "By the three-eighths pole I knew that was it. I could see other horses struggling a little bit, and he was just smooth." Dale Romans, who trained eighth-place Medal Count, quickly changed his tune about California Chrome after believing the colt had no chance to win. "Im very impressed the way he came into it, the way he looked, the way he was prepared and the way he ran," Romans said. "Now he has a new fan." Commanding Curve, a 37-1 shot, rallied for second, with Danza third. Wicked Strong was fourth and Samraat finished fifth. Commanding Curve returned $31.80 and $15.40, giving trainer Dallas Stewart his second straight runner-up finish with a double-digit longshot. Danza, named for actor Tony Danza of "Whos the Boss?" fame, paid $6 to show as the 8-1 third choice. Trainer Todd Pletcher came up empty with his four starters, finishing third with Danza, 10th with We Miss Artie, 12th with Intense Holiday, and 17th with Vinceremos. Wicked Strong, the 6-1 second choice, was fourth. Samraat was fifth, followed by Dance With Fate, Ride On Curlin, Medal Count, Chitu, We Miss Artie, General a Rod, Intense Holiday, Candy Boy, Uncle Sigh, Tapiture, Harrys Holiday, Vinceremos, and Wildcat Red. Vicars In Trouble, ridden by Rosie Napravnik, finished last. Before the Derby, Coburn had told anyone who would listen that California Chrome "would go down in history." He remains just as unabashed. "I believe this horse will win the Triple Crown," he said, something that hasnt been done since 1978, when Affirmed swept the Derby, Preakness and Belmont in a five-week span. "Thats where were going." Air Max Plus Pas Cher Destockage . -- Brendan Leipsic had two goals and an assist and Nicolas Petan extended his point streak to 11 games as the Portland Winterhawks slipped past the Red Deer Rebels 5-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action. Vapormax Plus Noir Solde . Brazilian striker Brandao opened the scoring with a header in the 55th minute before winger Franck Tabanou volleyed home from close range to double the lead in the 61st. Winnipeg Jets 2 Phoenix Coyotes 1 Shootout (Jets 34-33-10, Road 17-18-4) – The game concluded a five game road trip for the Jets, and the win was huge considering how the game in Anaheim the night before ended, as the Jets had the 4-0 lead, only to have it slip away and end in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks. The Jets finish the trip 2-2-1 and stay alive in the playoff race. A loss in regulation to the Coyotes would have mathematically eliminated the Jets. They are eight points back with five games to go. A strong contingent of Jets fans at the game, perhaps as many as 5,000. For the Jets, it seemed like a home game. Devin Setoguchi was back in the lineup after missing the last three games (coaches decision), with Anthony Peluso coming out. Andrew Ladd with his 23rd opened the scoring, with Brian Little drew the only assist to extend his point streak to seven (2-6-8), tying his career high. Little has points in 11 of his last 13 games and is 3-10-13 in the last 13 games played. The goal for Ladd was the seventh time this season he has scored the first goal of the game. In the last nine games where the Jets scored first, Ladd has been the scorer four times. Shots in the first were eight apiece. Phoenix tied the game early in the second, with Zbynek Michalek getting his second of the year, 19 seconds into the period. Coyotes outshot the Jets 14-6 forcing Ondrej Pavelec to make a number of big saves to keep the game tied. No scoring in the third as the game really tightened up. Shots favoured Phoenix 7-6. Late in overtime, Blake Wheeler went off for high sticking, but the Jets killed it off, sending the game to a sshootout. Fausse Tn Pas Cher . In overtime the Jets outshot Phoenix 2-1, but on the game the Coyotes outshot the Jets 30-22. The only goal of the shootout came off the stick of Ladd, who is now 7-13 in shootouts this season. His shot went off the post, off the leg of Thomas Greiss and in. It was Ladds seventh career shootout winner.? For the Jets, eight of their last 18 games have gone to overtime; they have won three. It was their 44th one-goal game of the year. They are now 2-6-1 in the second game of back-to-backs. Toby Enstrom at 24:15 led the Jets in ice time, Jacob Trouba was 24:10. Matt Halischuk and Blake Wheeler each had four shots on goal. Eric Tangradi had six hits to lead the Jets in that category. Wheeler, who had his three game goal scoring streak snapped, credited Paul Maurice for getting the team refocused after the tough loss in Anaheim. “He told us it was a statement game,” Wheeler said. “ We had to bounce back.” For Maurice the game was a solid test for his team. ?“I couldnt be happier for the guys,” Maurice said. “It was one eventful road trip. Going 2-2-1 with the group we have missing, says a lot for our room. To rebound and find a way. Our goaltender was the difference a number of times; the big penalty kill in overtime.” As for teams pre-game preparation: “We had a list of things in the adversity column. We went through it and what it would mean to win this game with all that was against you.” The Jets return home to play Pittsburgh Thursday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), before heading to Toronto for a game on Saturday (TSN 1290).
